Scenes from Montreal

Montreal and Quebec City were a blast. I ended up taking a trillion pictures, most of which were worthless. One must love the cheapness of digital cameras! Two decent ones on the left. At least decent in my mind. They pretty well sum up Montreal for me -- coffee, relaxation, and remnants of a French culture fixated on US dopers. More in the near future. Too lazy right now to jot down much. Patience, Bloghopper.

Twins, Montreal & British Aeroplanes

Wow, eleven days since I've written. Now that the class is over I am feeling lethargic and don't need to vent on here as much. I suppose that's not a bad thing. Off to Montreal in a couple of hours. Just a fun trip for simple pleasure. We're going to rent a car and go up to Quebec City as well. It will be great to get to some cooler weather.

I've been working on my dissertation proposal almost everyday the past two weeks. Reading journal articles, tweaking my future proposal and dissertation outline (now 10-pages single spaced), and working on my preliminary exam for my committee member Roger. I've almost finished my brand new course syllabus -- Geopolitics and Film. I dig the content and the idea of the course so much that I am actually disappointed I probably won't ever be able to teach it. But at least it fulfills most of my preliminary exam requirements for Roger.

What else? Anything of interest, Ian? No, not really. Finished a dot map for some professors at Macalester. A world map confined to four-by-six inches illustrating global maize production. It took forever but looked cool in the end. I'm also working on a postcard book art project idea I came up with in my sleep the other week. Needless to say, I've been making a lot of runs to Michaels recently.

On a less important note, but highly more timely, the Twins are still playing well even with a starting pitcher blowing out his arm. I can only hope they will be able to catch the Tigers. They are running out of time here...
