If you haven't heard from me in a while...

I've been a little wired. Actually, destressing now that the summer session is coming to an end. I had time to take a 24 hour sleep test at the university to see why I am always tired. They strapped all these gizmos to me and then asked me to fall asleep. When I woke up 11 hours later -- ironic that I slept better with this contraption than I normally do at home -- they told me I had to stay the entire day and take a nap every two hours. It was the most relaxing time I've had in years, stuck in my own little room with a flat screen, my "Economist," and the Twins game at 3 p.m. They finally let me leave at 6:30 p.m. yesterday after taking five naps. Results won't be in for another two weeks. The weirdest thing was that they were videoing and watching me sleep. When I blinked my eyes in the morning a voice, kind of like an angel, came over the loudspeaker and said "Good morning, Ian. I see that you are up. Can we come in and unhook you now?" Creepy!!!

Anyway, way behind on calling friends, as the end of the semester saw me taking on way too much. I tore out the ceiling in my office -- currently emailing from the bedroom. The project also involved some heavy demolition and patch up work, as well as a paint job. Two weeks of absolute chaos, but it is almost over. So this evening Birgit and I get to move everything back upstairs and regular life can resume. At least until the start of fall semester.

Got to go punch in some grades now...
